About CJ George
Raised on It is not your ordinary brand. But that’s because its founder, CJ George, is not your ordinary entrepreneur. CJ’s values and goals were birthed from a near-death experience followed by a disappointing no that turned into a much greater yes.
CJ was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer just before turning 10. As an active outdoor kid growing up in South Florida, all the things he enjoyed were suddenly risks to his health. Sunshine, swimming, sports, and socializing were strictly off-limits for the better part of two years during chemotherapy.
Like many kids facing life-threatening illnesses, CJ was approached by a wish-granting organization. Chemotherapy fights the disease but a wish helps fight the depression. They told CJ to dream big. Missing his love for the outdoors CJ knew exactly what he was going to ask for and during his first wish-granting meeting he asked to go hunting. Unfortunately, they said no due to wish restrictions.
But that single no turned into a much greater yes. Sensing CJ’s disappointment, his family began to research possible hunting and fishing opportunities that would grant CJ his wish. As a result, CJ not only received his wish but he also discovered a way of life he didn’t know existed. Each person he met on this journey left impressions on him that eventually transformed from passion into a mission. Raised on It was born before it ever even had a name.
One thing outdoorsmen have in common is the willingness to share a story. Often the story is connected to their great love of the outdoors and can be traced back for generations. CJ was impressed by passionate individuals with the determination and grit to pursue the lifestyle they were raised on and their commitment to passing it on to future generations.
As CJ finished chemotherapy and was given a new chance at life he wanted to celebrate the lifestyle he had grown to love and defend. CJ and a group of close friends spent the next two years sharing ideas and dreams for a brand that would not only convey but honor the message. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so what better way is there to convey a lifestyle than through apparel. Raised On It celebrates men and women committed to an uncompromising lifestyle and love for the outdoors through apparel, digital media, and a nationwide community of people celebrating their love for the outdoors.
